In just a few years mental health insurance has surfaced as a more mainstream issue, thanks mostly to legislation passed in the Clinton years. No longer has the issue of mental health been hidden from the public but is now treated along with other, more standard, physical diseases. The good news is that many existing health insurance plans already have mental health coverage and many other plans may offer it as an additional rider on the plan. Generally the coverage is not terribly expensive as insurance plans go, and can be had as an individual plan for those without existing health insurance coverage.
